The Jain Temple in Sulthan Bathery, built in the 13th century is one of the most important Jain temples in Kerala. The architecture here was heavily influenced by the style of the then ruling Vijayanagara Empire. The temple has played the role of a shrine, a centre of commerce and even as Tipu Sultan’s ammunition store. In fact the town of Sulthan Bathery (Sultan’s Battery) is named after this temple.
This feature will be introduced shortly.
